Background

PCM Electronics Limited was founded in 1994 to provide a specialised design, manufacture and consultancy service in the power, control and measurement fields for the automotive, marine, medical and industrial sectors of the electronics market. Our varied background includes design of components for Formula 1 cars, racing saloon cars and heavy diesel trucks as well as end of production line semiconductor test equipment.

Expertise

Our professionally qualified engineers have wide experience in the design of automotive components, power supplies and precision test equipment. Our specialist knowledge includes the requirements for design in the rugged automotive environment, with emphasis on power supplies, wide ranging input interfaces, plus injector and ignition drivers. We have several years experience of high-efficiency, low-noise switch mode power supply design from micro-power to over 50A, including a thorough knowledge of magnetic design principles. We have designed battery chargers for NiCd, NiMH, Li-Ion and Li-Polymer chemistries and a battery simulator. Our strong analogue background includes design, simulation and manufacture of data acquisition hardware at high speed and low power. Our skills in AC and DC amplifier design have been crucial for creating successful products for two particular customers, one who makes discrete semiconductor test equipment and a second whose portfolio includes acoustic modems with high power transmitters and sensitive receivers. We use trusted associates for software development and mechanical design.
